My favorite things to do to de-stress

Below is a list I have compiled of some of my favorite ways to de-stress when I am feeling overwhelmed:

  1. Do some light yoga. Just 20 minutes of some light exercise or stretching won’t hurt anyone. It not only will help your body feel a little better but also your mind. I always feel refreshed after a workout and hopefully, it will help you too.

  2. Take a walk outside. With the last few years being practically locked indoors, I think I can speak for all of us when I say a little fresh air is always appreciated! Even just a walk up and down the block is better than nothing. Not only are you moving around a bit you are also getting some much needed fresh air.

  3. Enjoy some time with your family member. Everyone has their own lives even when you’re under the same roof. Sometimes it is nice to sit down, free of any technology, and really spend some time with a family member.

  4. Listen to some music. It's as simple as that! I have a playlist for about almost everything and I have a few playlists specifically for putting me in a better mood when. Find some of your favorite songs and put them on.

  5. Read. Reading is my absolute favorite thing to do when life gets a little too crazy. And it doesn’t have to be an hour-two hour-long reading session either! Just 15-20 minutes is nice too! I try to take at least 20 minutes every day to read one of my many unfinished books. If it’s a particularly busy day, I find that all the more reason to quickly read a paragraph or two in between projects, and by the end of the day, I find that I have read a chapter! Or two!

  6. Crochet. Lately, I have had a lot of pain in my shoulder and wrist so crocheting is a bit of a challenge but on my better days I will pick up a project I am working on to do over a movie. It is such a repetitive motion that if you have done it enough that you could almost do it with your eyes closed (though I wouldn’t recommend it unless you don’t mind missing quite a few stitches!) It also can be very relaxing! You might struggle a little bit in the beginning but ounce you know just a handful of basic stitches and techniques you’re on your way to making some wonderful pieces!

  7. Journaling. Every once a week or so, I try to quickly jot down some of my overall thoughts or feelings throughout the week. Nothing too big, just a few sentences and an overall summary of it. I like to do this because it helps me not only understand my feelings/ thoughts throughout but also to reflect to see how much has happened in just one month!

  8. Watching your favorite show or movie. It’s always fun to cuddle up on the couch/ bed with favorite show or movie and just shut out the world for a bit. While I watch I will sometimes have a knitting/ crochet project in my hands. This might not work for everybody but it is something that I like to do and wanted to put out there in case you wanted to give it a try!

I hope this post inspired you in one way or another to get up and ty something new that curled help you when decompressing from all of the outside worries. Have a wonderful day/night and see you again next time!
